OShow 2011

Every year Emerson College welcomes nearly 1000 new students with, what is said to be, the greatest college orientation out there. Amongst dozens upon dozens of activities during the week of orientation is the OShow. The OShow is produced by the Musical Theatre Society of Emerson College and welcomes nearly 500 students between two shows.

The show is a review of musical selections of shows produced in the past year on campus, but with a twist. The story of the show is always a somewhat unrealistic survey of the new students future lives at Emerson. The cast takes the new students through scenarios of overcommitting, partying, being involved on campus, and enjoying their time at Emerson.

With such a wide range of material and a short period for tech process – I worked diligently on the front end to get things ready for the space. Each piece of the show was its own vignette in its own world. Range of color and contrast between pieces was important in giving the show an arc that was cohesive visually.
