Emerson Dance Company is the resident dance company at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Their an energetic and exciting family to collaborate with. Each season they perform a showcase. Each show has a concept and there are anywhere between 15 and 25 dance pieces on the program for the night. As EDC’s resident designer, I work with the choreographers and directors over the course of a month to construct the production.

A Night at the Roxbury was my first collaboration with the Emerson Dance Company. The company had yet to have a show in a large venue. Seeing as the company had grown incredibly in the months prior to the show, they were afforded the opportunity to move their show to a larger venue. I was brought onto the project a week or so prior and worked quickly to create the look they were searching for. As it was their first show in a larger theatrical space – they aptly named the show A Night at the Roxbury, referencing their new venue – Roxbury Community College Theater. The show’s theme lent itself to the more theatrical/club feel while still showcasing a wide variety of dance genres and musical selections.
